Senior Associate for Academic Partnerships

Dr. Gilles Bousquet’s distinguished career in academic leadership positions within Wisconsin institutions of higher education makes him a valuable asset to McDonald Schaefer’s clients. He is especially skilled in stakeholder relationship building and the execution of strategic partnerships. Most recently, Dr. Bousquet served as interim chancellor at UW–Eau Claire, and before that served 10 years at UW–Madison as dean of International Studies, vice provost for globalization and special assistant to the chancellor for international engagement. He is currently the Pickard-Bascom Professor of French and holds a courtesy appointment in the Wisconsin School of Business, as well as advising the President of the UW System on International Strategies. Dr. Bousquet has a track record of delivering value through fund and friend raising and has experience working with alumni throughout the country and around the world.

Gilles was born in Algeria, grew up and was educated in France, where he earned his Doctorate. He has been a resident of Wisconsin since 1982. Married with two children, he enjoys sports, travel, and reading about history and world affairs.
